You are living in a time where more people are paying more attention to their health and well being than perhaps at any other point in history. Ironically the incidence of degenerative diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer have reached epidemic proportions. It is a dichotomy such as this which tends to indicate that eventually the pendulum is going to swing in one direction or the other. If you read my “Grim But Honest Forecast” blog regarding the future health of this planet, you would probably think I was a pessimist.
In truth, I am an optimist for those who are willing to think outside of the box, and a realist for those who are only willing to conform to the mediocrity of conventional healthcare. Recently I heard Michael Moore give a speech at the Occupy Oakland group, where he stated he is improving his health by eating no red meat for the past 10 months. Apparently what he’s doing isn’t working too well for him. If he only knew what health was, perhaps he wouldn’t still be so morbidly obese!
Moore is a proponent of socialized medicine, which is based upon the fraudulent system of medical care: drugs, drugs, drugs, surgery, drugs and drugs, and the forcing of everyone to pay into this fatally flawed system. Give me a break! I refuse to pay into a system of endless drugcare for people who have caused their own diseases. Moore doesn’t seem to have the slightest idea of what real healthcare is. In fact, not many people do, including your legislators.
However there is a growing number of people who do, and who are reverting to “alternative” methods of healthcare. Ironically, it should be pharmacology and allopathic, western-based medical practice that should be labelled as “alternative”, as this poisonous system has only been in place for the past 100 years of human history; a blip on the historical screen of humanity.
The fact of the matter is that people are waking up. Massive numbers of people are finally realizing that the systems of pharmacology and western medicine are largely fraudulent, and shouldn’t even be considered as “healthcare”, but rather “disease-care”, “sick-care” and “disease-maintainence”.
The REAL revolution of human health starts with YOU. It begins with recognizing the relationship you have to your external environment; an environment which is comprised of both physical elements (such as the quality of air, water, food, various toxins) as well as socio-political structures which influence your exposure to how you think and what you believe. You must think for yourself and question the way the outer world works, in all facets.
The human health revolution is also immensely about individuality. This means the recognition that your body’s health and its nutritional requirements are highly unique and individual to you and your body. In order to fully grasp this point, you must look beyond the dogmatic ways of thinking, which has altered your ability to see the reality of your own health. You are not a statistic. You are a human being with highly unique biochemical functions. Allopathic medicine and its dogmatic system would have you believe that what is important for your body is based upon group statistics. This is ridiculous. It is ridiculous because conclusions based upon medical studies are only at best a hypothesis, and at worst grossly misleading. Studies cannot take into consideration every, countless variable which influences the results on every subtle level.
That is why there is no such thing as a “one size fits all” diet. It is why different types of diets will cure different people of diseases such as type II diabetes.
What is needed instead is a totally different way of assessing human health.
Symptoms: The Biggest Signs That What You Are Currently Doing Is Not Working
Your body will tell you when it is not in balance. Symptoms are the most important signals that your body can send you. The frightening thing is that so many people are so out of touch with their bodies, they are not even aware they have symptoms. Or, some people consider symptoms as a sign of aging, or just as a normal part of their lives.
This has got to change if health is going to be a possibility. The body is capable of functioning in balance, harmony and homeostasis. However it takes intelligence and intuition in order to supply the body with what it needs.
If you have health symptoms, consider it a blessing, an opportunity to wake up and to pay closer attention to what your body needs.
Get It Together: Become Involved In Your Health & Your Education
It is true that today there is an onslaught of information regarding human health. Its true that so much of this seems conflicting and contradictory. The only possible way to sort your way through this maze is to have a starting point: your own biochemical individuality.
Get in touch with your “nutritional intuition.” This is the sense of knowing what your body needs at any given point in time. It is your nutritional instinct. One of the best ways to help develop your nutritional intuition is by monitoring the effects of what food is having on your body. Use this Daily Food Diary as a powerful tool to assist your increasing awareness.
Become your own healthcare system! Don’t wait for others to tell you what to do. That’s sheepish. Educate yourself. Learn how to interpret laboratory tests. I’ve created this 4 part introduction into blood chemistry analysis in order for you to become more educated and involved in your health.
There are countless books available to learn how to interpret your own blood chemistry and lab tests. The medical system doesn’t want you to become empowered. It wants you to be subservient to it and what it provides. But what if you were able to treat your own health by yourself, simply by self-empowerment? I am telling you that not only is this an extraordinary possibility, but I believe it to be absolutely essential for healing.
Again, I must repeatedly emphasize the point that your body and what it needs is highly unique and biochemically individual. When I work with my clients professionally, I always have them do some sort of testing to assess their individuality. It is these tests that indicates the need for individualized nutritional therapies.
Health Exists For Those Who Seek It
Health won’t be given to you in a pill or by a doctors order. It can only be obtained by working for it, and by testing and re-evaluating yourself. In my own personal nutrition practice, I am always monitoring the effects of food, nutrients and exercise upon my health and how I feel. Put yourself under the microscope. Be honest with yourself and don’t cut yourself short.
Your health must be fought for and no one will fight for it but you.
