7 Mechanisms of Clinical Investigation

Throughout the clinical investigative process, it’s essential to monitor and identify the 7 mechanisms and discover how they’re affecting your client. In this module, we will explore the 7 mechanisms in-depth, and determine how and why they’re so significant with every client.

7 Mechanisms of Clinical Investigation will lead the clinician to implement the correct testing, as well as to have a handle on the right types of therapeutic approaches.

Detoxification: Bile Acids, Mold, Lyme & The Conundrum of UGT1A1

Detoxification is a fundamental process of metabolism. Toxins of various kinds can impact our body’s ability to function. Essential to the process of detoxification are bile acids, which form as a product of phase 2 liver biotransformation.

Lyme bacteria and a host of co-infections such as Bartonella and Babesia infect red blood cells. As red blood cells are degraded in the spleen, there are consequences for the reticuloendothelial system, and the hepato-billiary tree. We will explore experimental therapies which aim to ramp up clearance pathways of these critical physiological processes in the context of Lyme and co-infections.

Hormones Beyond The Endocrine System: Neuro-Immune Modulation

Hormones are powerful chemical messengers released by the endocrine glands. Hormones like cortisol, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA-S, and estrogen don’t only wield significance in the endocrine system, they also play important roles within the immune system and the autonomic nervous system.

We must have sufficient phosphatidylcholine from diet in order to form bile acids. Additionally, for women, phosphatidylcholine is formed in the presence of estrogen. Therefore post-menopausal women and those with low estrogen are at risk of phosphatidylcholine deficiency, NAFLD and subsequent poor hepatic detoxification.

Balancing the endocrine system has consistently proven essential for immune modulation, and represents a vital strategy in the chronic illness paradigm, including Lyme and mold. Most clinicians working with Lyme miss the endocrine system entirely and instead are focussed on eradicating pathogens (good luck!). It’s increasingly more obvious that the myopic bug killing approach fails and creates tremendous systemic collateral damage.

The Joint Hypermobility Conundrum: New Theories Emerge

I’ve written and presented extensively on the subject of Joint Hypermobility and it’s overexpression in complex illness. This includes a presentation at The Forum for Integrative Medicine (TFIM) conference in March, 2019 and a published article in the Townsend Letter in June, 2019.

My theories on growth factor dysregulation due to collagen/ECM weakness still stands, as does my research on the RCCX gene cluster. I will provide an overview of these topics.
