Presented by Michael McEvoy, FDN, CNC, CMTA, & the founder and CEO of Metabolic Healing. This 7 hour course dives deep into the biochemistry behind diabetes and insulin resistance. This is an essential tool for Clinical Nutritionists, Functional Medicine Practitioners, & Healthcare Professionals.

  • Learn the science of glucose metabolism and insulin resistance in-depth
  • Take part in a comprehensive analysis of blood chemistry markers related to: glucose utilization, inflammation, renal function, liver function
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of how nutrients and botanicals can positively affect insulin and glucose biochemical pathways
  • Learn how to customize a diet based upon biochemical individuality parameters
  • Get exceptional results with your clients, using my 30-day glucose optimization program

Let's take a deeper look inside the course

DESKTOP ONLY

Section 1

Introduction

Insulin resistance is the cause of type 2 diabetes. According to statistics more than 45% of US citizens are either diabetic or pre-diabetic. With this giant statistic comes many truths, myths and stereotypes. Some important questions must be asked:

  • Is diet the only factor in causing insulin resistance?
  • Do all diabetics need to eat the same diet to stay healthy?
  • Are all diabetics fat and overweight?
  • Can insulin resistance and hyperglycemia be managed using nutrition, lifestyle and supplementation?

The truth is that insulin resistance is multi-factorial, involving processes related to:

  • Inflammation
  • Loss of glycemic control
  • Inadequate diet
  • Stress
  • Genetic susceptibilities

Section 2

Biochemistry & Physiology of Glucose Metabolism

In order to develop a plan of action, it is first essential to understand mechanisms of cellular glucose metabolism and what goes wrong in someone with insulin resistance. You will be primed to understand how to affect these pathways with nutrition, to support insulin and glucose utilization and function.

In this section, you will learn the fundamentals of glucose metabolism, and biochemical pathways:

  • Insulin and GLUT signaling
  • Glycolysis
  • Pentose phosphate pathway and NADPH synthesis
  • Glycogen storage
  • AMPK and known activators

Section 3

Essentials of Blood Chemistry

Blood chemistry is the gold standard of laboratory testing. With respect to insulin resistance and elevated glucose, as a clinician it is imperative to make critical distinctions and to develop a keen eye for critical blood chemistry markers.

You will be taught how to identify key blood chemistry markers that are related to glucose metabolism, what high and low values suggest, and how to monitor their activities. These include:

  • Serum glucose
  • Insulin
  • Hemoglobin A1C
  • Triglycerides
  • LDH
  • GGT
  • ALT
  • AST
  • Albumin

Section 4

Study of Nutrients & Botanicals

Using a tremendous amount of clinical insight combined with the validation of the scientific literature, this section focusses exclusively on nutrients and botanicals with proven effects on various aspects of glucose metabolism, inflammatory mechanisms, renal function, glycation support, and endothelial function.

This section will be an in-depth study of 10 of the most important nutrients and botanicals for combating insulin resistance and the associated complications:

  • Berberine
  • Bitter melon
  • Goat’s rue
  • Lipoic acid
  • Benfotiamine
  • L-carnosine
  • Ginseng
  • Salvia miltiorrhiza
  • Magnesium
  • Inositol

Section 5

Dealing with Diabetic Complications

You will learn the consequences of longterm glucose dysregulation, as well as 4 major mechanisms that induce inflammation. These include:

  • The Polyol pathway
  • Hexosamine pathway
  • Diaglycerol protein kinase C
  • Peroxynitrite

This section will also teach protocol mechanisms to provide support for vascular damage, reduce glycation, and support overall function for better outcomes.

Additionally this section will teach a number of blood chemistry markers that can identify inflammatory processes. These include:

  • C-reactive protein
  • Homocysteine
  • Uric acid
  • Fibrinogen

The third part of this section will teach renal function indicators and protocols. These include blood chemistry markers:

  • BUN
  • Creatinine
  • eGFR
  • Chloride
  • Co2/bicarbonate

Section 6

Individualized Nutrition - Putting it All Together

An essential part of generating a nutritional program is reducing burden of potentially toxic foods. Additionally, it is essential to develop individualized food plans for optimal health and wellness. This section will teach you how to identify diet based upon biochemical individuality and a simple self screening process.

Additionally you will learn how to use:

  • Food charts
  • Intake data
  • Food logs to help your clients to track their progress.

You will be guided through conducting a 30-day program that includes:

  • Individualized diet
  • Supplement program
  • Weekly guidance and coaching

Bonus Section

Case Studies & Q&A

This section will go through 3 case studies, using before and after blood testing as a clinical guide. We will discuss the assessment of the blood work, as well as the protocols used, and the follow-up blood testing.

Lastly we will have a 15 minute question and answer section that will answer some common questions.

Meet Your Host

Michael McEvoy, FDN, CNC, CMTA

Founder and CEO of Metabolic Healing

I created the Blood Sugar & Insulin Resistance Mastery Course out of a growing need to teach clinicians the importance of blood sugar handling, and how to work through clinical cases using nutritional protocols.

There is a growing necessity for clinicians who are able to address the issues of blood sugar imbalances, insulin resistance and the related inflammatory consequences. When dealing with these types of clients it becomes imperative to understand the underlying biochemistry and physiology, as well as having a keen understanding of how nutrients, botanicals and an individualized food plan work to optimize health.

This presentation is based upon hundreds of hours of research of the scientific literature, as well as my own evidence-based, empirical observations from my nutritional consulting practice.

I am certain you will appreciate the depth of knowledge contained in this course and see the immediate benefits it will have on your clinical practice.

Listen to what other practitioners are saying

Michael McEvoy's Genetics and Methylation training program is a must for any clinical health care practitioner who wants to provide their patients or clients with the most comprehensive, deepest and most effective nutrition-based programs to address chronic health conditions.

James Jordan, CNC

Michael's videos about MTHFR are an excellent resource for those who would like to understand methylation processes and gene alleles without being bored to tears or totally confused. Michael not only simplifies this complex topic very nicely, but pulls together a lot of loose ends that one will encounter if trying to learn about MTHFR from the various writings on this subject.

He also presents cases to demonstrate how essential understanding methylation is for all practitioners, and how compensating for faulty genes can be dealt with using simple and manageable strategies. I most highly recommend his videos to anyone.

The future of medicine is here today! Very soon every patient will be asking you about genetic testing. Are you prepared to give them an answer? More importantly, are you prepared to put genetic testing to simple, easy and effective clinical use? No other course in the world to date can explain what it is, how it works, why it is important and most importantly, give you a system for easy implementation into your practice.
W.L. Wolcott
CEO Healthexcel Metabolic Typing®, Author, The Metabolic Typing® Diet (Doubleday, 2000).
I thought I was well on my way working with clients with chronic, unresolved health conditions. After 6 years at university studying human biology, that included genetics and biochemistry, this course has just shown me what I didn't know, forgotten I knew and a structure for to how to find it out. This course has been a huge step forward in how I can drill down to the exact crux of what I need to focus on when rebuilding my clients health. The amount of detailed information, how well it is presented and the clear, scientific rationale for investigating root cause of your client's complaints is invaluable. If you work with clients suffering from mood, behavior, inflammatory and detoxification issues you need to seriously consider this course.
