Protein Type Meal Ideas: What's for Dinner?

By: Michael McEvoy, FDN, CNC, CMTA

Protein Types are of 2 kinds:

  • Fast Oxidizers
  • Parasympathetic Types

Protein Types need to consume the right types of protein for their type of metabolism. Foods that have the higher PURINE content are absolutely essential! Purines are what are called nucleo-proteins.

Nucleo-proteins are vitally important for fast oxidizers. Fast oxidizers overproduce the intermediates and are overly reliant on glucose metabolism. Purines will slow the over-production of metabolic intermediates such as oxaloacetate. Eating more red meat, organ meats, dark meat poultry and fattier fish will balance the fast oxidizer. High quality saturated fats like cheese, butter and coconut oil will also greatly assist the fast oxidizer.

The parasympathetic protein types have over-reactive parasympathetic nerves and thus need to strengthen healthy, sympathetic functions. Purines will increase sympathetic activity in the parasympathetic types.

Protein Type Dinner Recipe – Slow Cooked Wild Alaskan Salmon, Spinach Salad and a Side of Raw Sheep’s Cheese

Preheat your oven to 225F, no higher!

Place 1/3rd- ½ pound of fresh, wild Alaskan salmon in a glass casserole dish. Make sure your glass casserole dish has a tight fitting lid. The lid is very important. It will retain the moisture of the food. Do not put any oil or lubricant in your cookware.
Cooking at 225F, you will never need to!

Squeeze a fresh, organic lemon onto your salmon and then
Using a cheese grater, grate the lemon skin onto your fish.
Season with some fresh rosemary.

Cover and place in the oven. Make sure your oven is only 225F. Cooking higher than 225 will damage the protein, omega 3’s and nutrients.

Cook 30-45 minutes. Allow 15 minutes of cooking time per 4 ounces of food.

As you wait, prepare your salad. Protein Types need to emphasize very low carb and low carb vegetables:

Fresh Spinach
Celery
Tomato
Finely chopped Onion
Finely cut pieces of raw cauliflower
Drizzle with olive oil

Take your tender salmon out of the oven and season with a dash of sea salt. Eat your fish first! After you have finished your salmon and then your salad, have an apple at the end of your meal with some pieces of fresh, raw, sheep cheese!

Voila! Here is a delicious protein type meal!
